Sample projects which Strategies for Philanthropy has completed:
#1 - Corporate Foundation
In 2003, Strategies for Philanthropy responded to a client's need to rethink its $100,000 annual corporate philanthropy. Within a month, the client received a plan for evaluating gifts and sponsorships at its large, multi-site health care business. The plan included a custom designed formula, based on the client's need to support both the Milwaukee regional nonprofits and its own client base.
Result: The corporation was able to focus its giving, reduce time spent by staff on evaluation, and have desired impact with each of its gifts.
#2 - Family Foundation
Due to the recent sale of a privately held company, a client turned to Strategies for Philanthropy to assist in the evaluation of projects focused in the arena of women and children. In particular, she wanted to have maximum and quick response to the epidemic of teenage suicides in a specific community. Within 60 days, Strategies for Philanthropy assembled a two-part project to respond in both private and public ways to the teenagers whose emotional needs were not met when their beloved friend took her life. Our ongoing work includes project evaluation.
Result: Client was able to implement an effective new
program, and teenagers in Ozaukee County received professional
care to cope with their friend's tragic suicide.
#3 - Nonprofits
Nonprofits frequently turn to specialists in the field, not business managers, for their executive team. This creates operational issues that can debilitate or destroy the very programs about which the CEO and others on the management team impressed the search committee in the time-consuming interview process.
With its 26-year history in higher education, international aid, independent schools, social services, and the performing arts, Strategies for Philanthropy provides services that:
- Help assimilate staff to the southeastern Wisconsin market, by providing consequential introductions to the philanthropic community
- Create a swift learning curve about business opportunities for nonprofit campaigns and events
- Develop and implement action plans with an immediate impact on operational issues, including:
Staffing - both hiring and training
Written materials for use in public relations & fund development campaigns
Media contacts
Enhancing boards and committees
Slogans, campaign strategies, and proposal writing
Short- and long-term strategic planning
Strategies for Philanthropy clients benefit by having all professional work done by Susan Stein, a veteran of more than 31 years in corporate and nonprofit businesses.
